In Web development .NET is widely used. That covers website, applications, services (SOA), repsonsive UI web apps, RESTFul apps etc.

Web development you have techlogies-

Asp.net Web forms

Asp.Net MVC

Angular+ .NET

Asp.NEt Core

WCF services

WEbAPI for RESTful services

In Desktop Apps-

you have rich UI and multithreading applicaitons using WPF.

Web with UI development is most popular in .NET and widely adapted by many organisations.

If you working in any of these or interested in it, then you have opprotunites ahead.

Microsoft also launched support for NODE and with Typescript you can develop Angular 2/4/5 webapps with .NET.

There are also new possibilites in CLOUD-IoT as Microsoft Azure came with Azure Iot Hub.

As a developer choose your niche and improve skills in these technologies.

I Would suggest to be more skilled in your job (that i presume is .Net) as you will get 8 hours to learn it more
