Hosting web services outside of IIS

Hi all! Is there a way to host web services outside of IIS? I'm writing a business application for PDA-s that would normaly require the use of remoting. Since remoting is not included in the compact framework, I turned to web services, but I'd like to avoid using IIS if possible.

you can use Apache HTTP web server...which is free.

Ya that’s true. I have implemented it in that way. Sorry buddy I don’t know any other way to do it. Probably Scott will be the best person to help you. Anyways if you get any solution please let us know.

I've seen that article. If I got it right, it only describes a way to wrap a web service into a windows service. You call the methods from the windows service but it still uses the web service to complete the task.
