How to create a windows activation service(WAS) of a wcf svc

The following are the steps need to be taken for adding the service to the WS.

1. Create a solution and add a WindowService from the Template of New Project.

2. After adding the WindowService to the solution go to the CS file of the Service1.cs

3. There you will be able to see 2 events onStart and onStop specify your code for

starting and stoping the service.

4. Add an app.Config file to the Same WindowServiceHost Application.

5. Specify the endpoints and all the Configuration in the app.config file.

6. By default the WindowService will not be installed under your os Service. For installing

right click on your service1.cs Designer area and click Add Installer option from the list of context menu.

7. on Click Add Installer option you will notice that 1 ProjectInstaller.cs file is added to your solution in the

Solution Explorer.

8. double click on Project Installer.cs you will find two Components over there

a. Service1

b. serviceProcessInstaller1.

9. Right Click on serviceProcessInstaller1 and click on Properties specify the Account property to Local System.

10. Right Click on Service1 and click on Properties specify the Name, DisplayName and the ServiceName Property what you want.

11. Finally build your project and go to the bin folder of your WindowServicehost Application, you will find WinHost.exe file created.

12. Open Visual Studio Command Prompt and type command installutil and drag and drop your WinHost.exe file on the command prompt and press enter.

13. After doing these many things your service will be added to the Window Services.

14. Open Run command type Services.msc and search for your Service, after finding start the service.

15. Once the service is started you can downlowad the wsdl on your client Project for referring the service.
