How to remove .html extension in IIS using URL Rewrite

Hi Sir, Mam,

I publish html files in IIS 10 and wanting to remove the .html when accessing the website index.html

so when I open a browser and access the site index it will display the index html file

without specifying the .html extension.

then change the name to something else like ReWriteMyHtml

Most likely causes:
The directory or file specified does not exist on the Web server.
The URL contains a typographical error.
A custom filter or module, such as URLScan, restricts access to the file.

Hi Sachin Singh,

I created a website in IIS called kas and added an application named kas as well.

In C:\kas was shared and the share name is kas. The location of the html files and graphics is in
C:\kas and I added the URL Rewrite in kas application. The web.config now is located in C:\kas\web folder to remove the Cannot add duplicate collection entry of type 'rule' with unique key attribute 'name' set to 'RewriteHTML'

When i started to launch the site 1.html -- it displays the web content
however when launch the site 1 -- it displays errors

add a web.config file to the root directory and include below code
            "RewriteHTML">
                "(.*)" />
                "MatchAll">
                    "{REQUEST_FILENAME}" matchType="IsFile" negate="true" />
                    "{REQUEST_FILENAME}" matchType="IsDirectory" negate="true" />

                "Rewrite" url="{R:1}.html" />
