Pls can any one help me with this issue?

how to pre display a text in jtextfield so that when the user start to type in the textfield the initial text disappears

something like text watermark in java script found in websites. thanks

No problem, there is no placeholder in NetBeans. You have to make it manually, the thread that I provided you with has the code for that. You would have to do that manually, write the code in the Java file (not in the GUI mode).

pls if i run the code i got this error at import side "package org.jdesktop.swingx.prompt does not exist"

That text is known as Placeholder. Because it remains there for the time when user has not entered anything, and shows a hint for what that text box is actually about.

In Swing you can add a placeholder and remove it as soon as the user types something into the text field, the source code for what is provided at this thread. Read the thread, use the code and create the functionality in your application. :-)
