name was started with an invalid character. Error processing resource

Hi
all i am using   XmlTextWriter to write xml file ,but  my record contains a '&' symbole
so  while writing xml it creates a an error Like

"name was started with an invalid character. Error processing resource"

so how do i solwe it please give me the write solution
