Notification after client clicked on a link to download document.

Hi There,

I have created a form with list of articles to download for clients in c#. Before coming to this page use has to verify his email address. If the email address is already in my database only then he will be able to acess this page otherwise it will redirect to registration page . Till now everything is fine. But now what i want to do, if the user came to this page to downloading the articles then i should know which document he clicked so after clicking a link i should receive a notification that XXX mail address click on yyy document at aaa time.

Hope i am clear to explain my self. could anyone help me how can i achieve that ?

When you Varifiy the Email Address Save the Email Address of User in Session

using below code
Session["UserEmail"] = "Email Entered By user Here";
if you are using LinkButton in Reading the Article ..in Click Event of LinkButton

Retrive the users Email By below code
string usersEmail = Session["UserEmail"].ToString();
Write code for sending mail Send Mail to Retrived Email Address and in Mail Subject Write DateTime.Now . thats it :)

Friend,

If you Showing Atricles from the Database then you should use DataList Like Control so that you dont have to Write Code in each Hyperlinks Just you have to define Code in One Hyperlink and It Will Be available to Each Download Hyperlink of the Article . but its hard to do with simple hyper links as they don't have any events ...and also cant Interact with server to Get Email Address of the User and Send mail.

Actually i have couple of hyperlinks on the page (around 20) so i dont think so its a better idea to write code on the click event of all the hyperlinks. Sorry may be i am wrong as i m not a good programmer.

Could you please tell me how i can handle this situation.
