Encapsulation: When ever you demand for a task, and you don't know how that task will be done, but you get the result. That is Encapsulation. Encapsulation is nothing but showing only those things which are required by wrapping up complexities. Ex: You order for Orange juice, you don't know the process behind how the juice will be made, ingredients and all other. What you know is the final result. So in simple language hiding of information is Encapsulation. Abstraction: Abstraction is a way to remove the association of the behavior of an object with the actual details behind the scenes which implement that object's behavior. Ex: we invented many things but the actual reason behind them is not known, they are hiding and what we see is the actual thing. Polymorphism: A single function that has different character in different place. As poly means many. Read a very good example Say a door a door to a temple, a door to a house, a door to a kitty house, all are doors but all look different Inheritance: As the word suggest, inheriting from the existing class. We all are human, then human is the base class and we all have 2 hands, 2 legs the properties inheriting from the base class.

Yes Sam, even i took part in the discussion what is "s" in OOPs. And found t his as an endless discussion, as many will support 1. system 2. structure. 3. indicate a plural but yes i will go with "Object Oriented Programming System" As a system may be based on objects or procedures.

I never have gotten an answer to the question why "OOP S " with the "s". I think you should look for articles about OOP but not OOPS.

The first two articles in our recommended articles section (see sidebar to right) are about as good as it gets for explaining these concepts. Unfortunately, the third article in the series doesn't appear to have materialized.
