Browsers usually do not support rendering a doc, docx file formats and for these unsupported renderings browsers will simply download them. That's the default behaviour of web browsers. Text and image files are supported by all and also modern browsers now have a build in pdf viewers so they are supported as well. Anyway to display your file in new tab a web browser needs to be able to render it, so what I do is I process the DOCX files in .NET in order to get a compatible file type for browser rendering. For example here is an article about how you can achieve a DOCX to HTML conversion with C# code and after that you can easily display the previous DOCX content, now in HTML format, in browser.

Hi this code is working fine but instead of opening a docx file in new tab its downloading the file, please can u tell me how to open the docx files in new tab. pdf, text , image files are opening in new tab fine but docx files only not opening in new tab.
