It is startup file which triggers first XAMl page of a WPF Project. The main thing to notice here is the StartupUri property this is actually the part that instructs which window or page to start up when the application is launched. When WPF application is created MainWindow.xaml will be started, but if you would like to use another window as the starting point, you can simply change this. One of the most commonly used features of the App.xaml file is to define global resources that may be used and accessed from all over an application, for instance global styles.

App.xaml is the starting point of the WPF application, When the WPF project is created App.xaml is created automatically with code behind(App.xaml.cs) and XAML file(App.xaml). It contained starting instructions like what will be the first window or page and, styles, resources, etc.

It is the root of Logical tree (Starting point)
The major purpose for App.xaml is for holding resources (style, pens, brushes, etc.) that would like to be available through out all of the windows in your application.

App.Xaml:

App.xaml is the declarative starting point of your application. App.xaml.cs extends the Application class, which is a central class in a WPF Windows application.

Use:
you can start your first window (it is defined in the app.xaml) manually. There are some lifetime events there centralls (like application start).
