Why we are using JavaScript, in .NET applications.

Hi friends, Please update me that, I think there are sufficient validators available in VS by default then why we are using JavaScript in .NET applications. Thanks.

The client side scripting is very effective and key to boost the performance of the web application. The client script will be executed in the client browser. The validation and simple animation can be written in the client side and it would not give any load to the server side. There was a need to validate in the client browser. For example we have the login screen, where the user name and password is mandatory. If the user not entered any thing then it would be restricted in the client browser and not required to request the server side. It is was of load to the web server. It can be checked in the client browser and the user can be notified to enter the value. The JavaScript, VBScript are the example of the client side scripting.

If .Net were to be used to validate the data being entered in a web page character-by-character, then each character would need to go from the client computer to the server and then back. So for example if the web site is hosted in the United Sates and if someone in India is using the web site and if they type in a charecter, then that event must go all wht way from India to the United States and then a response would have to be return. I hope you can understand how innefficient that can be. If the valiatio is done using JavaScript or Java then the validation can be done in the client.

The validation controls you've mentioned are server controls and therefore perform validation on the server. If the user's browser supports dynamic HTML, client side validation using Javscript improves performance because there's no need for a round trip to the server as both Senthilkumar and Sam have explained.

Thank you very much to both of you. I think there are sufficient validators available in .NET by default such as Required Validator, Range Validator, etc... then why we are using JavaScript in .NET applications.

JavaScript is needed for client-side scripting in ASP.NET applications. You can't use a .NET language such as C# or VB.NET for that.

Why we are using JavaScript, in .NET applications.
