Can't pin to Excel taskbar jump list

SOLUTION:

1. Find the "Jump List ID" of the program that's giving you issues here or anywhere similar (e.g.  Microsoft Office Word 2010 x86 is "a7bd71699cd38d1c")

2. Go to Run (Windows + R), copy this in, press enter:     %appdata%\Microsoft\Windows\Recent\AutomaticDestinations 

3. Find the file with the Jump List ID from above, and delete it (e.g.  "a7bd71699cd38d1c.automaticDestinations-ms" for Word 2010)

This immediately clears that programs jump list (recently accessed and pinned) but you will now be able to pin once more.

1. Check the taskbar settings: Right-click on the taskbar and select "Taskbar settings." Scroll down to the "Jump lists" section and ensure that the "Show recently opened items in Jump Lists" option is enabled.

2. Clear the recent files list: Sometimes, clearing the recent files list can resolve the issue. Open Excel, go to the "File" tab, click on "Options," and then select "Advanced." Scroll down to the "Display" section and click on the "Clear" button next to the "Recent files" option. This will clear the recent files list.

3. Reset Jump List settings: You can try resetting the Jump List settings for Excel. Open the Registry Editor (regedit.exe), navigate to the following key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\Excel\JumpList, and delete the entire JumpList subkey. Close the Registry Editor and restart Excel to see if the Pinned section reappears.
