Design and manage CRUD in library app without database

If you want to use Entity framework, and the article that Ibrahim had shared, then you may want to chose SQL Server for your purposes.

If you are using it just for educational, or personal purposes, I would suggest that you start using JSON files. They can be designed in a way to provide a good data source structure.

@Afzaal I have not decided anything about implementing data source since I was confused on how we can acheive CRUD operations without using database. Please guide me further on which data source will be better and how to implement the same.

@Ibrahim: You missed a point here, he said, "without using database". Where is ASP.NET Web API going to help him anyway? He wants to do it without any database, whereas the article you shared using Entity framework; you know.

The OP requires to get a simple interface to performing these functions over any data source.

Sure, I typically do this... In almost every other single article of mine. CRUD is just a concept of implementing functions that allow you to:

1. Create objects
2. Read objects
3. Update objects
4. Delete objects

Where the objects are? In your data source, now typically data sources are confused with a database. Whereas, data source can be anything:

1. Database (of course!)
2. File
3. Network resource
4. User input
5. Etc.

JSON files are a good alternate for the databases and I have explained how to implement CRUD for JSON files. You just need to create an object that can perform these functions (CRUD functions), on the data source.

Since you have not shared with us, how you are implementing your data source, I cannot guide you to build the CRUD objects.

@Afzaal I agree with you but I adviced Web API so that if he wants to build up platform-independent solutions in the future based on the crud operations,he doesnt need to change or rewrite any code.
