How to access SQL Server via UWP .Net Core app?

Giovanni Scaduto's technique for accessing SQL Server from a .Net Core console application worked perfectly, but when I tried using it in a UWP Blank App (Universal Windows) I couldn't add aJSON file to the project. Please tell me it's possible to access SQL Server from a UWP app and how to do it.

you can use Ado.Net or Entity Framework
