How to Use the Path Corrected to indicate mine under Folder

Maurizio Anietti

Good morning everyone. My name is A.Maurizio and my problem with Visual Basic 2010 express is this:

I state that I am a beginner; Therefore I am not very practical:

Having said this the problem is this:

I would like to try to bring up an image that I would like to take from my work subfolder.

Now when I use the VBA if I want to indicate mine (Sub Folder) it would be enough to write the Term "thisworkbook.Path)" \ Name of my sub Folder \ Name of the file.PNG! Or (JPG) etc ...!

The same thing I would get if I worked with (VB6.0) only that in this case I would have to write (App.Path) etc ...!

Using the Vb 2010 express which is the exact term to point directly to my subfolder without having to write (C: \) etc ...!

Thanks for All the help you want to give me about it; As for me, this is really becoming a puzzle. Thanks-

Greetings from A.Maurizio

1. Dim aPath As String = Application.StartupPath("C:\Users\PC\Desktop\Prova_Immagine_Ricavata_Dalla_Deirettory\WindowsApplication1\WindowsApplication1\Immagination.png.jpg")
3. replace with bellow
4. Dim aPath As String = "C:\Users\PC\Desktop\Prova_Immagine_Ricavata_Dalla_Deirettory\WindowsApplication1\WindowsApplication1\Immagination.png.jpg"
6. or
8. Dim aPath As String = Application.StartupPath & "/Immagination.png.jpg"
10. It is applicable if your image file in the folder where your exe file executing
11. Application.StartupPath means from which folder your app is running
12. It is a getset property of string type not a method.
15. Thanks and Regards

Hi Laxmidhar Sahoo

First of all

thanks for your help

I am not very practical with this application. What you suggested to me you interpreted it this way.

But the funny thing and that not only does not give me error; But it doesn't even show me the image.

So please could you tell me why?

And where did I go wrong.

Thank you

Sincere greetings and good evening

Dim aPath As String = Application.StartupPath("C:\Users\PC\Desktop\Prova_Immagine_Ricavata_Dalla_Deirettory\WindowsApplication1\WindowsApplication1\Immagination.png.jpg")
'controllare(l) 'aPath in fase di debug
'PictureBox1.Image
Me.PictureBox1.Image = Image.FromFile(aPath)

stored your file in the debug folder of the project or where the project startup.

Dim Immagine As Image

Dim aPath As String = Application.StartupPath() & "\Immagination 1.jpg"

check the aPath at debug time

PictureBox1.Image = Image.FromFile(aPath)

Thanks and Regards

Ti Ringrazio Jemth

Dim Immagine As Image
Immagine = AppDomain.CurrentDomain.BaseDirectory & "C:\Users\PC\Desktop\Prova_Immagine_Ricavata_Dalla_Deirettory\WindowsApplication1\WindowsApplication1\Immagination 1.jpg"
Me.PictureBox1.Image = Immagine

Thank you Jemth

Not being very practical, I reported your suggestion like this:

But it does not work ?

I also saw with great bitterness that this type of program does not accept even the classic (LoadPicture)

Neither does the (CurDir) that is normally used in vb6 to identify a subfolder.

I know that I will try a little more then I will give up everything; And I will continue to use the old but still better manageable (VB6.0)

Which perhaps Graphically it will be much more scarce than the (VB 2010 Express) but it is definitely much more practical.

Hello and Thanks for your suggestion
