make bulb glow on/off on button click

Hey users,

i am currently making a webpage in which i am stuck in a problem.

i have two images 1st is black and white and another 1 is coloured and these images are overlapping  each other,and a button which gets switch on and off.now i want that when i click on the button "on" the black and white image should get invisible,and when i click again the black n white image get visible again and 1 more important thing is that.(when we switch on the button and move to another page and then get back to the same page again,the coloured img should be visible.it should not get reset on page load )
