Requirements for compiling to compact .NET?

Right, the docs kind of imply that you can do it, just without the wizard that does whatever it does to make your life easier. But whenever I find a "how-to" article, it always starts off with running the Smart Device template! I might try copying a small app over to it and see what happens... Hmmm.... Nope won't run, but I didn't get an error message either. Odd.

Looks like MS doesn't support SDE projects on 'Visual C#' - you have to upgrade to atleast Visual Studio Professional... ( i would think you would have atleast some version of visual studio included if you were able to access the IDE... but only MS knows !) You should be able to access the compact framework, though, if I am not mistaken... " the docs seem to be a little vague on the exact feature support of each version.. hope this helps.. - dip

I don't have any of those versions -- I have the "Visual C#.net Standard" edition. I've seen vague descriptions on Microsoft.com that seem like it could go either way, but as it turns out, the wizard is not installed out-of-the-box. The Compact .net Windows Mobile 2003 SDK says it works with both C# and the eMbedded C++ 4.0 compiler, so worst-case, I can try the C++ version. It's not that big of a deal, as I'm interested in this to play with the newer technology, not for paid work. Thanks, Gary

You don't have to re-install VS.Net - it's not related to embedded vb/c++ compilers..
