Windows 8 on 32-bit machine

OK I got it installed and running on a 32-bit machine.

Alright, I think the culprit is 512MB RAM. Windows 8 requirements are minimum 1GB RAM. One would wonder why I still have 512MB RAM laptop. Well, this is one of the Sony viao I have since like 2005. It was the first of kind small laptop (now they are calling them Ultrabooks) :)

I have an old laptop (32-bit) that has XP on it. Other problem is, it has 512MB RAM. I wonder if that is the issue. I am going to check one more time that I download 32-bit download. But I read that minimum memory requirement for Windows 8 is 1GB. Wonder if installer checks that as well :)

Depends on which preview you downloaded, did you download the 32-bit preview or the 64-bit one? the 64-bit consumer preview will not work on a 32-bit machine or even a 32-bit host OS (my machine is 64-bit but the basic OS was 32-bit so had to first install Windows 7 before installing the preview on another HDD.
