Windows Update - Eaten up my Internet boadband Data Usage

My laptop got crashed yesterday and got reinstalled Windows 7 H.P.

I missed some softwares which was using before because of no back up.

Planned to download those softwares and pluged in my data card.

In a minute, Windows Update message poped up and asked for Important Security updates.

Unfortunately, default setting was to download and install the updates.

After starting the update, I went for watching a movie.

Came back after a while, I was suprised to see around 2GB of data got downloaded and updates installed.

Waw great.. great.. am happy... good one .. hmm...

Yes.. bill shooted up :( . Around 140+ patches got downloaded. I don't understand why so much of security updates @ Windows update.

I do not understand; is that a good thing or a bad thing? If you have to pay for the extra data then it is a bad thing. If your internect connection performed better than you expected then it is a good thing.
