  I believe inheritance shouldn't be termed a parent-child relationship, almost always it works as 'IS A'. Therefore in the example LSP works because CFL 'is a' bulb.

    I meant that parent-child analogy rarely applies when using inheritance therefore terms such as superclass/base class - subclass are used in most programming circles. Additionally when talking about LSP, is-a works best. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Is-a#Liskov_substitution_principle

    I think "IS-A" relation will not suffice the Liskov principle. There can be many instances where a class "IS-A" sub-type for other class but left unimplemented or empty. In those case Liskov Principle fails. In my view a better relationship term can be "IS-SUBSTITUTABLE-FOR", If a subtype can substitute then it adheres to LSP else not.
