Hi Cyndie, looks like u r talking about "windows services", 'cause "Service" is an application that runs in the background [you can see all the running services in control panel / adminTools / Services]. and we don't have to start it exclusively. But if u want to design a "regular windows application" you have to keep it running in order to initiate the trigger. I suggest you go for windows service. It is better and less resource consuming. hi baan.. hey thanks for wanting to help me out.. ok my idea is to have the reminder trigger in a specific day and time.. how do i do that pop-up thing automatically without having the user to start the application first.. like first the user will have to input the date, time and memo.. and when its the same date and time the memo will pop-up regardless whether or not the user has opened the application.. can the application run by itself automatically during startup?.. thanks!.. :)

To compile to an exe select Release from the Solution Configuration drop down box in Visual Studio (this is next to the symbol that looks like play on a cd player).The choose build solution from the Build menu.
