In IT industry skills and knowledge is vital. But also appearance and presentation matters.

In IT industry knowledge always matters,but first impressions the best impression so you should be careful about your attire.
Big companies don't bother about dress code,but in small companies dress code also matters.

there is no dress code for attending the interview, you should look decent as amit told you.
according to me in IT industry, your knowledge matters .
if you have a sound knowledge then nobody will reject you.

Someone told me that Pink shirts should not wear as this color shows lack in confidence. Also black color decent/ formal shoes are most preferred. Yesterday one of my student ask this also. I suggest him to wear neat-n-clean and decent dress.
But I think, myself need to have more idea about this.

You can wear anything but it should look decent when you go for interview. Your dressing sense talks about your personality and can be a part of your first impression when you enter to interview room.
